Ecstatic Dance

From the culmination of the neon series remixes comes a new work, Ecstatic Dance. The neon series remixes emerged through the artist’s change of scenery, inspired by the manufactured and imaginative-fictional landscapes surrounding them in Tokyo. Within the stillness of the dancer, the world moves around her. Dance is a transcendent experience, both as an inward and outward journey. Group dance becomes ritualistic and connects ourselves to each other, and to a greater sense of humanity and a deeply rooted undercurrent of culture. We have been dancing to the beat of a drum for thousands of years, it is ingrained in our souls. Originally titled ‘Dancer stepping into the infinite’, the liquid in the artwork represents the ecstatic states achieved through dance. The artist makes no claims about their dancing ability.
